2 Florida teens arrested, accused of raping girl inside camper, deputies say

A 17-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man have been arrested, accused of raping a girl inside a camper, according to the Marion County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said the three met at a party and that one of the boys was in possession of a gun and allegedly used it to force the girl back to his camper, according to the arrest affidavit.

FOX 35 has decided to name the 18-year-old as he is a legal adult. FOX 35 has decided not to name the 17-year-old as he is a minor and has not been charged as an adult.

Both boys were booked into jail on a charge of sexual battery involving physical force, which is the legal standard for rape in Florida.

What we know

The Marion County Sheriff's Office said the girl was able to run away and escape the camper. She then contacted the Lake County Sheriff's Office to report the attack.

According to the affidavit, the girl met the two suspects at a party on Dec. 28 in Ocklawaha. During the party, there was some sort of an argument involving the two boys and a gun was mentioned.

When the party ended, the 17-year-old, who FOX 35 is not naming due to his age, allegedly used the knowledge that he was in possession of a gun to force the girl into the 18-year-old's camper, later identified as Austin Littleton, according to the affidavit.

After the girl escaped, according to the affidavit, deputies said the two boys followed her, tried to prevent her from leaving, and continued to drive behind her vehicle. They then allegedly forced the girl to stop her vehicle, but drove away because the girl began screaming.

What happens now?

Both boys were arrested. In interviews with detectives, they denied attacking the girl.

However, deputies said in the probable cause statement that physical evidence and injuries the girl left on the boys during the attack, challenged their denials. 

Little was booked into the Marion County Jail. A judge ordered him to be held without bail. The 17-year-old suspect was taken to the Marion County juvenile detention center.
