Child, 12, injured from lightning strike at Sebastian Inlet, officials say

ORLANDO, Fla. - Editor's note: Initial reports from authorities indicated that the child who was injured by lightning was a boy. 

A 12-year-old Florida girl was struck by lightning on Monday, according to officials. It happened at Sebastian Inlet Monday.  

The child was transported to a local hospital, but her condition was not immediately known.  The girl's mother was also knocked to the ground during the lightning strikes, officials said.
