The Walt Disney Company has announced that it is pledging $15 million to help recovery efforts from the deadly wildfires that have scorched Los Angeles County this week.

Starting on Jan. 7 with the Palisades Fire, multiple fires have burned tens of thousands of acres and destroyed thousands of structures, including large swathes of the Pacific Palisades and Altadena communities. Many families have since returned to find their homes completely destroyed.

On Friday, Disney announced that it would be "The history of The Walt Disney Company is inextricably linked to the greater Los Angeles region, and the destruction from the devastating fires affecting thousands in our area is truly heartbreaking," Disney wrote in a press release.

The Palisades Fire is already one of the most destructive wildfires in state history, and the most destructive in the history of Los Angeles.

Disney said the money the company donates will be given to organizations like the American Red Cross, Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and others. Disney also added that it would work with local businesses when it comes to rebuilding.

"Walt Disney came to Los Angeles with little more than his limitless imagination, and it was here that he chose to make his home, pursue his dreams, and create extraordinary storytelling that means so much to so many people around the world," Disney CEO Bob Iger said. "We are proud to provide assistance to this resilient and vibrant community in this moment of need."

Earlier this week, FOX Corporation also donated $1 million to California wildfire relief.
