A Concord woman's motherly intuition may have been what saved her life.

Shelly Ann Cawley had to be put to sleep for an emergency C-section. The procedure went well but doctors were not able to wake her afterwards. Shelly Ann fell into a coma.

Her husband Jeremy says doctors told him she was on a last chance ventilator, it's so powerful that it shakes the hospital bed. Their final shot was to see if skin-to-skin contact with her newborn would help her motherly instincts kick in and it did.

Shelly Ann fully came out of the coma a week later and officially met Rylan, her life saver, for the firs time.

Rylan celebrated her first birthday this past week.
