Deputies: Man killed in apparent hunting accident

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office is investigating what they are calling an apparent hunting accident that claimed the life of a man in a wooded area of Oak Hill.

The Sheriff's Office was notified at on Wednesday afternoon at 2:11 p.m. that a hunter had accidentally shot his friend with a 12-gauge shotgun. The location is deep in a wooded, swampy area west of Interstate 95 and north of Maytown Road. With a Sheriff's Office helicopter leading ground units to the scene, deputies reached the site at 2:47 p.m. and confirmed the fatality. The victim has been identified as 65-year-old Bruce Best.
