Disney's brand-new cruise ship arrives at Port Canaveral after rescuing 4 people on Monday

The brand-new Disney Treasure cruise ship arrived at its new home, Port Canaveral, on Tuesday morning, concluding a 14-day journey across the Atlantic Ocean that included assisting the United States Coast Guard in the rescue of four people stuck aboard a sinking boat.

"There is so much emotion with seeing our ship pull in — the Disney Treasure — I believe I heard someone say she’s splendid," said Yolanda Cade, Disney’s vice president of Signature Experiences Communications and Public Affairs. "Splendid and magical."

The Disney Treasure is the sixth addition to Disney’s cruise fleet, inviting guests to embark on a journey filled with exploration and Disney magic.

"We’ve taken inspiration from some of those beloved attractions and brought them onto the ship," Cade said. "When you think about Disney, you think of adventure, and Walt had an incredible love for exploration, which is infused throughout the ship."

Every deck and destination on the Treasure reflects Disney’s passion for storytelling, featuring elements inspired by Disney and Pixar films.

"Guests will enjoy a new vacation experience with stories brought to life from Luca, Marvel, and more," said Carlos Jimenez, managing producer of entertainment.

One highlight that sets the Disney Treasure apart is the debut of its newest live show, The Tale of Moana

"As you know, Moana went on such great adventures, and this show features puppetry like never seen before. It’s not to be missed," Jimenez shared.

Disney also designed special spaces for adults, including the Haunted Mansion Parlor and Periscope Pub.

"We’ve got the spa and other places for guests to unwind, whether with or without their kids," said Jimenez. "The kids have their activity spaces, and adults need their own escapes—we’re champions of that."

Disney Treasure assists with Coast Guard rescue

The day before the ship's arrival at Port Canaveral, a 50-foot catamaran, named Serenity, issued a distress call around 8:30 a.m., about 230 miles off the coast of Bermuda after its escape hatch blew a gasket, causing the boat to take on water, according to the Coast Guard.

The Disney ship was the closest and responded to the scene by launching one of their lifeboats to grab the stranded passengers who were about 230 miles off the coast of Bermuda.

"We are pleased that the Disney Treasure was able to provide aid to the boat passengers in peril. Our crew members worked together on the rescue, skillfully demonstrating their training and commitment to safety," said Captain Marco Nogara, captain of the Disney Treasure, in a statement provided by a spokesperson.
