Orlando man arrested after allegedly robbing and beating elderly woman: officials

Police said an Orlando man has been arrested after he allegedly attacked and beat an elderly woman after breaking into her home.

Reports show the man, Ronald Davis, was released from jail less than a year ago after having served a 15-year sentence for a similar incident.

Officials said the woman who was attacked was taken to the hospital and currently remains in critical condition.

The backstory:

The Orlando Police Department said Davis was released from prison in June after serving a 15-year concurrent sentence.

Records show Davis had been charged with burglary of a dwelling with assault and battery, as well as robbery.

Police investigate home invasion

What we know:

The Orlando Police Department said it responded around 1:46 p.m. on Friday to 2315 Caribbean Court in reference to a home invasion.

Reports show the elderly woman's husband came home to find his wife severely beaten inside their car in the garage. Police said the woman was pressing the car's horn for help.

Officers said the husband told them a man had forced their way into their home and brutally attacked his wife. 

Detectives said they identified the man as Davis, who they found sleeping in a shed on a residential property a few miles from where the incident occurred. 

What's next:

Records show Davis now is being charged with home invasion robbery with a weapon, aggravated battery on person over 65 with great bodily harm and aggravated battery with a weapon.
