A tropical system making its way across the Caribbean strengthened Friday night to become Tropical Depression 4. The system is expected to quickly strengthen further into a tropical storm – to be known as Tropical Storm Debby – by late Saturday, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Depression forms in Atlantic, expected to strengthen

Tropical Depression Four formed late Friday over Cuba – and is expected to strengthen into a tropical storm, which will be named Debby, the National Hurricane Center said. The tropical system was previously known as Potential Tropical Cyclone Four and Invest 97L. Forecasters say it continued to strengthen as it moved over Cuba on its way to the Gulf of Mexico – and Florida.
