Teen critical after hit-and-run crash

A driver accused of hitting a teenager riding a mini motorbike and leaving the scene on Wednesday night has been arrested, the Titusville Police Department announced Thursday.

A driver accused of hitting a teenager riding a mini motorbike and leaving the scene on Wednesday night has been arrested, the Titusville Police Department announced Thursday.

Joseph Domingo Santiago, 40, is facing five charges which include; leaving the scene of a crash with serious bodily injury, tampering with evidence, driving with a suspended license with knowledge, violation of probation and resisting an officer without violence.

Around 8:30 p.m, officers responded to the intersection of North Singleton Avenue and Wilderness Lane regarding a hit-and-run crash, according to officials. 

MORE HEADLINES: 

An investigation revealed that a driver of a 2018 Nissan Altima struck a teen riding a Coleman mini-motorbike. Police said the driver did not stop and left the scene. The child was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Investigative leads helped police identify and locate the suspect's vehicle and Santiago was identified as the driver in the crash, officials said.

Officers located and arrested Santiago at his residence, and he was booked into the Brevard County Jail without bond.
