Projected path for Tropical Storm Erika shifts to the east
LAKE MARY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - The National Hurricane Center released an update on Tropical Storm Erika at 8:00 a.m.
It continues on a Westerly track and a slight turn to the West-Northwest is likely at some point Thursday.
Fox 35 Meteorologist Jayme King says “It’s critical we keep an eye on Erika as the storm travels through the tropics with a track aimed at Florida, intensification of Erika looks likely over the coming hours and days and this will have a tremendous influence on the storm’s projected path.”
Erika could grow into a Category 1 Hurricane as it enters the Southern Bahamas, with further strengthening as the track parallels the East Florida coast late into the weekend.
“This is the time East Central Florida could experience tropical storm conditions as the backside of Erika moves by just offshore of the coast.” said King.
