‘The Masked Singer’ finale: Buffalos win Season 12

'The Masked Singer' Season 12 crowns winner

Buffalos won Season 12 of "The Masked Singer," and were revealed as legendary harmony group Boyz II Men.

LOS ANGELES - "The Masked Singer" finale kicked off on Wednesday, with Season 5 winner Nick Lachey returning to the stage to perform "It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year."

The remaining celebrities to battle it out included Wasp and the Buffalos, and they pulled out all the stops with two songs, including "When I Was Your Man," "Somebody That I Used to Know," "I’m Your Baby Tonight" and "Too Good at Goodbyes."

While the final two contestants were ready to fight for The Golden Mask Trophy, only one could be crowned the Season 12 champion.

Subsequently, it was a buzzkill for Wasp, who was chosen as runner-up in the competition series.

Wasp is Mario

"The Masked Singer" unveiled Mario, the Grammy-nominated R&B singer known for hits including "Just a Friend 2002" and "Let Me Love You."

"This gave me the chance to tap back into that kid that didn’t get that chance to be a kid," Mario told the audience following his reveal. "I started at 15 years old in the industry, and before that, it was going from home to home. I got adopted when I was 13, so it just tapped me back into that child me."

The 38-year-old's song "Let Me Love You" won two Billboard Music Awards, a Grammy Award nomination and remains his most commercially successful release.

"This has been an incredible experience," he continued. "Shout out to the Buffalos."

Buffalos are Boyz II Men

Following the sting of Wasp’s departure, the Buffalos were crowned the winners of Season 12.

"The Masked Singer" unveiled the Buffalos as Boyz II Men, best known for their ballads and a cappella harmonies.

"When the competition got stiff, we had to turn it up," they told the audience following their reveal.

Over the years, Boyz II Men has been honored with numerous accolades, including four Grammy Awards and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. They have also been inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame and the R&B Music Hall of Fame.

"We truly appreciate each and every one of you for allowing us to show our personalities," they continued. "We love to have fun, and you guys allowed us the opportunity and the platform to have fun."
