Trump announces $100B investment in the U.S.

President-elect Donald Trump announced a $100 billion investment in the U.S. on Monday. 

He spoke from his Mar-a-Lago resort, marking the first time he addressed reporters since he won the election last month. 

He was joined by SoftBank Group CEO Masayoshi Son, who is making the investment in U.S. projects over the next four years, the Associated Press reported. 

The Japanese technology group SoftBank makes investments in a variety of companies that it groups together in a series of Vision Funds.

The announcement comes after Trump vowed to expedite federal permits for energy projects and other construction worth more than $1 billion.
