Trump, Vance Inaugural Parade: 7,500 participants to march through DC

Nearly 7,500 participants from across the United States will march in the Presidential Inaugural Parade on Jan. 20, following the swearing-in of President Donald J. Trump and Senator JD Vance. 

The parade, organized by the Trump Vance Inaugural Committee, highlights a diverse array of groups representing all walks of American life.

What we know:

The parade will take place on Pennsylvania Avenue immediately after the inauguration ceremony. Representatives from 23 states, featuring veterans' groups, first responders, high school and university marching bands, and equestrian teams are expected to attend.

Each branch of the U.S. Armed Forces will also participate, continuing a long-standing tradition.

The NYPD Emerald Society Pipes & Drums, Liberty University’s "Spirit of the Mountain" Marching Band, and the Benedictine Schools of Richmond are among the notable groups participating. Butler County First Responders will honor fallen comrade Corey Comperatore and celebrate the heroism of emergency personnel nationwide.

The backstory:

Inaugural parades trace their roots to President George Washington, whose supporters followed him on his journey to New York City in 1789. Official parades became a fixture in 1809 with President James Madison’s inauguration.
