Florida man arrested after high-speed chase

Deputies say Taparee Shelton took off driving 100 miles per hour in a high-speed chase across Brevard County. Officials say the chase started when a deputy tried to stop Shelton for speeding, but he then sped up and started swerving in and out of traffic.

A Brevard County commissioner says more than $7 million in taxpayer funds has been used for firefighter overtime. The numbers are rising as the county continues to struggle to staff its stations.The fire union says people aren’t staying because the pay is too low. Firefighter pay starts at $15 an hour in the county, and staffing isn’t the only struggle.

1 dead following officer-involved shooting in Florida

The Titusville Police Department said one person is dead following an officer-involved shooting Friday night. Officials said the Titusville officers involved in the shooting were not injured. Reports show 26-year-old Tri-Marea Rayquan Charles was transported to the hospital for a gunshot injury and was later pronounced dead. The investigation is currently active and ongoing.
