Families march to protest gun violence

Dozens of people marched through the streets of Daytona Beach, Saturday morning calling for an end to gun violence. Marchers made their way to Joe Harris Park where they rallied. One by one, the relatives of gun violence victims stepped up to the microphone and said the names of their loved ones who’d died.

Volusia County Beach Patrol is warning beachgoers to not take matters into their own hands when they see swimmers struggling in the ocean. They advise that you notify a lifeguard or find a floatation device to throw into the water. They also recommend you swim near a lifeguard stand.

Officials: Worker dies after falling off roof

A construction worker died Monday after he fell off the roof of a Deltona home. Officials said the worker was in his mid-20s. There were reports that lightning struck nearby, but that was still being confirmed, officials said.

Multi-vehicle crash in DeLand closes I-4

Westbound lanes of Interstate 4 reopened late Thursday night after being closed for several hours due to six different crashes involving 15 vehicles. In total, five people were transported to area hospitals. Witnesses told troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol that it was raining during the time of the crashes. The sequence of events that led to these crashes is still under investigation, troopers said.

Florida principal allegedly wrote $100K check to 'Elon Musk' in apparent scam

A principal at a charter school in Oak Hill stepped down after she allegedly wrote a $100,000 check with school funds to a person she believed to be Elon Musk. Dr. Jan McGee has served at Burns Science and Technology Charter School for 12 years. At the most recent board meeting, tensions rose as three members of the administration filed their resignations in light of the incident. In an effort to keep them employed, McGee countered by resigning herself.

Dispatcher that helped save 2-year-old speaks out

Shift Supervisor Tom Eggers fielded the call on Sunday. A woman called 9-1-1 shortly after finding a two-year-old girl face down in the pool. According to the audio of the call, the girl was not breathing at the time of the discovery.
