Student cut during fight at Volusia County high school
A student's face was cut with a knife during a fight with another student at University High School in Orange City, the Volusia Sheriff's Office and the school district confirmed. In a letter to parents, University High School Principal Karen Chenoweth confirmed that two students got into a fight around the time school was let out on Monday.
Woman crashes into pond on I-95

Tourist dies on holiday weekend in Florida
Two sisters who were visiting from Louisiana were found unresponsive in the waters at New Smyrna Beach on Monday afternoon. Volusia County Beach Safety said the two were near Beachway Approach when they were found 50-100 feet from each other, floating. Both sisters were originally found with no pulse. On the way to the hospital, one sister regained a pulse. The other, however, did not. Lorraine Chesson, was pronounced dead at the hospital.
