A political committee leading efforts to pass a ballot proposal on abortion rights filed a federal lawsuit Wednesday alleging the state violated the First Amendment by threatening television stations over an ad supporting the measure.

Florida plans to seek death penalty in Jamaria Sessions death

Florida prosecutors announced Monday that they plan to seek the death penalty against Tyshael Elise Martin in the brutal death of Jamaria Sessions. Police allege Tyschael beat and abused the 9-year-old girl, and let a dog visciously attack the girl. Jamaria Sessions died at the hospital. The girl's biological father, Lo Juan Sessions, has also been arrested in the girl's death.
