Remarkably, August did not have a named system -- the first time in over two decades. September has ushered in a brand-new named storm, Hurricane Danielle. It is not expected to threaten Florida. We are tracking two other tropical waves that could see some further development.

The FOX 35 Storm Team is monitoring some tropical disturbances in the Atlantic Ocean. One system could become a named storm by the weekend but it does not appear to pose an immediate threat to Florida.

We are tracking four systems that have the potential for development. The one with the greatest chance of becoming a hurricane is situated over the Central Atlantic. Formation chances through the next five days stand at 80 percent.

The National Hurricane Center is currently watching four tropical waves. Three of the disturbances are given a small chance of development over the next five days, but one in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean has been given a 70% chance and could become a tropical depression within the next week.
