Southwest shifts to assigned seats

Southwest Airlines is making waves with its biggest shift in over 50 years: the transition from open to assigned seating. But that's not all! On the same day, the airline also announced the launch of red-eye flights, with Orlando among the first cities to offer these new overnight options starting in 2025.
