Orlando City Council approves proposal for homeless shelter
Orlando City Council gave its initial approval to open a 300-person homeless shelter in the SoDo neighborhood, using a building formerly used to house incarcerated people out on work release. It's a controversial decision. Some residents in the neighborhood are against the proposal, concerned about safety. Proponents say people need resources and help, and that they'll provide security. This is one of several more meetings that will be held, before a yay or nay decision will have to be made.
