Blue Bell trucks leave Alabama plant filled with ice cream

Blue Bell ice cream left at its Alabama facility in delivery trucks on Tuesday.

It’s the final step in Blue Bell finally returning to shelves, but company officials were still mum on when sales would resume.

“Our trucks are on the road again… And yes, they are filled with Blue Bell Ice Cream,” Blue Bell tweeted out. “We’ll let you know soon when and where you can find our products in stores.”

The Alabama plant began producing ice cream and building up inventory one week ago.

The company has previously said the first product to return to shelves would be 10 flavors of the famous half-gallon ice cream containers. Pints and cups of Blue Bell would return later.

Company products were linked to 10 listeria illnesses in four states, including three deaths in Kansas, before a recall April 20.

Listeria is a bacteria that can cause serious illness, especially in older adults, pregnant women and those with weakened immune systems.

There’s still no set date for when production could resume at the company’s two plants in Oklahoma and Texas.
