Florida representative wants Trump's face on Mount Rushmore

Florida Rep. Anna Paulina Luna announced on Tuesday that she has introduced legislation to add President Donald Trump's face to Mount Rushmore.

In a post on X, Luna stated, "His remarkable accomplishments for our country and the success he will continue to deliver deserve the highest recognition and honor on this iconic national monument. Let’s get carving!"

Why you should care:

The legislation would seek to add President Trump to the Mount Rushmore National Memorial in South Dakota, which currently honors former United States presidents, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln for their "invaluable contributions" to our country.

FOX 35 News has reached out to Luna's office for comment and for a copy of the legislation. We're waiting to hear back. 

 Who is Anna Paulina Luna?

Luna, 35, is a Republican congresswoman representing Florida's 13th District and is in her first term in office.

Born in California, she is the first Mexican-American woman to be elected to the U.S. Congress to represent Florida.

Luna joined the military when she was young and later graduated from the University of West Florida with a degree in biology.

It was in the Air Force that she met her husband, Andy Gamberzky, who earned a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart after being injured by enemy fire in Afghanistan.

According to her website's biography page, she believes that the "business as usual" mentality in Washington has ruined the lives of everyday Americans, who are failed by decades of leaders who do not truly value them for anything more than their votes." 

In her current role, she vows to "fight against the elitist political establishment" that she believes "has, for far too long, left the American people behind," her bio stated.

She lives in St. Petersburg, Florida, and serves on the Foreign Affairs and Oversight and Government Reform.
